Everywhere
By Kelli Brost
Life cut short, to your dismay
such a horrible surprise
When your vision is blurred with tears,
Just remember my gleaming eyes
Now walk out to the forest
Look up from the trail, high in the sky...
That is not a hawk above,
tis me, now I fly
When my brothers take to the field,
It is not a deer they see....
But instead their competition,
Running in first, is me!
Stop down by the river,
To rest or just to think...
And when the water ripples for not reason,
That is me, getting a drink!
Look up to the sky,
Through the fall leaves thinning...
The sunlight warming your soul,
It is me again, grinning!
The air is crisp this time of year,
And as you begin to sigh...
The shiver that runs up your spine,
That is my paw on your thigh!
As darkness starts to fall,
And you begin to weep...
Know that I miss you too,
But instead think of my joyous leap!
Night has now consumed the day
You think of too few years...
Those are not stars that speckle the sky,
Those are all my tears
My tears are that of happiness,
Because God gave me to the best!
So strong and kind, your gave me everything
in those memories I will forever rest
While sitting in the evening,
Think not of my life as done...
For you should be so very proud,
Because my final race I won!
Do not dwell on our short time
I know how much you care
God called me back when He saw fit
And now I am everywhere!

Peyton went back to DC Silkenswift Blaze of Chaos through both his sire Carrot and his dam First. First also goes back to DC Tiene Windmaster of Foxwood. Thanks to good friends with the Greater Chicago Whippet Club he was trained to a LGRA starting box by the time he was 7 months old.
Peyton exceeded my wildest expectations in only 8 months of competing. He was BOB at BCOA National Specialty. He was over half finished with his ASFA FCh with only 4 trials. He won both his 5-point majors his first 2 AKC trials and easily finished his AKC Field Champion title. He was over half way to his GRC also. He was top borzoi ASFA Region 6 in 2011. Peyton was beautiful to watch run and nothing ever fazed him on the field.
Oct 26, 2011 Peyton was killed by a car while I was on vacation in Europe. Another dog opened the gate and all the dogs got loose, it was at night and he was a dark dog. It was quick and I don't think he felt a thing. I miss Peyton more then words could ever describe. I will always wonder what he could of been and why he didn't get to grow old with me. I would still trade every ribbon he ever won just to have him back
